Iroquois county police news 7/30/2025

On July 24th , 2025, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Matthew Ailey, age 54, of Woodland. According to police reports, deputies were dispatched to the report of a car accident. Upon locating the wrecked vehicle, contact was made with Ailey, and signs of impairment were observed. A probable cause search of Ailey's person and his vehicle revealed suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. Ailey was taken into custody and charged with operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, driving while license suspended, driving while under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Ailey was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later released with a notice to appear.

On July 25th , 2025, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Jeremy Bruens, age 46, of Donovan. According to police reports, deputies were dispatched to the report of individuals trespassing on private property. Upon contacting the suspected individuals, including Bruens, a computer check was run. The check revealed that Bruens had an outstanding Iroquois County warrant charging him with possession of methamphetamine. Bruens was taken into custody and transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he awaits his next court date.

On July 26th , 2025, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Damien Rosillo, age 23, of Joliet. According to police reports, deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Rosillo for traffic violations. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a loaded firearm without a

serial number. Rosillo was taken into custody and charged with unlawful use of a weapon by felon and defacing identification marks of a firearm. Rosillo was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later released with a notice to appear.

On July 27th , 2025, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Timothy Boehme, age 44, of Loda. According to police reports, deputies were dispatched to the report of a domestic that had occurred. On scene, deputies met with the complainant. Through the course of their investigation, Boehme was identified as the suspect. Boehme was taken into custody and charged with domestic battery. Boehme was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later released with a notice to appear

Iroquois County Police news 7/27/25

On July 22nd, 2025, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Renee L. Beauvais, age 58, of Tilton. According to police reports, Beauvais was charged with possession of methamphetamine less than 5 grams. She was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she was released with a notice to appear.

 

On July 22 nd, 2025, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Travis J. Morris, age 29, of Beaverville. According to police reports. Morris was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant charging him with failure to register as a sex offender. Morris was taken into custody and released with a notice to appear.

 

On July 22 nd, 2025, Davincci Lane, age 18, of St. Anne, turned himself in to the Iroquois County Jail. Lane was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant charging him with aggravated battery. He was taken into custody and later released with a notice to appear.

PERSONAL INJURY CRASH- US 41 AT SR 14 IN NEWTON COUNTY

On Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025 at approximately 10:59am, Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US-41 and SR-14.

Preliminary investigation shows a grey Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 71yo Indiana male, traveling north on US-41, through the intersection of SR-14.   A black Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 46yo Illinois male, traveling west on SR-14, entered the intersection, failed to yield, colliding with the grey Chevrolet Silverado.

Northbound and westbound lanes were closed for 45 minutes due to cleanup and removal

The driver of the black Chevrolet (westbound) was transported to an area hospital for further medical attention.

Assisting agencies: Newton County 9-1-1, Newton County EMS, Newton County EMA, Morocco PD and Morocco Fire.

Iroquois county police news 7/22/25

On July 18th , 2025, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Bryan Reed, age 53, of Onarga. According to police reports, deputies were dispatched to the report of a person displaying a firearm while driving. Through the course of their investigation, contact with Reed was made, and a C02 pistol was recovered from his vehicle. Reed was taken into custody and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Reed was transported to the Iroquois County Jail, where he was later released with a notice to appear.

 

On July 19th , 2025, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Matthew Hamill, age 27, of Watseka. According to police reports, deputies observed traffic violations and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle where Hamill was the passenger. A computer check revealed Hamill to have an outstanding Kankakee County warrant for failing to appear on the original charge of driving while license suspended. Hamill was taken into custody and transported to the Iroquois County Jail. He was later released on a notice to appear.

 

On July 21st, 2025, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Andrew Stover, age 31, of Cissna Park. According to police reports, Stover had an outstanding Iroquois County warrant for aggravated fleeing/eluding a peace officer and driving while license revoked. Deputies located Stover at the Iroquois County Courthouse. Stover was taken into custody and escorted to the Iroquois County Jail where he awaits his next court date.

 

On July 21st, 2025, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Jordan Raymer, age 21, of Sheldon. According to police reports, deputies observed traffic violations and conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Raymer. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were performed, and Raymer showed signs of impairment. A search of Raymer's person revealed drug paraphernalia. Raymer was taken into custody and charged with driving while under the influence of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Raymer was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later released with a notice to appear.

COOLING CENTER LOCATIONS IN IROQUOIS COUNTY

The Iroquois County Emergency Management Agency reminds residents that cooling centers will be available in Iroquois County, ensuring the most vulnerable of our residents are safe during the next few excessively hot days. The Centers offer air-conditioned relief during periods of extreme heat or when an Excessive Heat Advisory or Warning is issued by the National Weather Service.

 

EMA Coordinator Scott Anderson emphasizes, “It is strongly encouraged that anyone seeking heat-related relief within one of these facilities listed below, please call to confirm the ability to provide service prior to leaving for the cooling center location. That way you can be certain you can receive the needed relief.”

Anderson added, “Iroquois County residents are encouraged to ensure their senior relatives, friends and neighbors, and others whose health may be affected by extreme heat, are safe during high-temperature days. Churches and other organized groups are also asked to check-in on the well-being of their members.”

Iroquois county police news 7/19/25

On July 17th, 2025, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Michael J. Paulissen, age 39, of Watseka. According to police reports, Paulissen was charged with driving while license revoked. Paulissen was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was released with a notice to appear.

Iroquois county police news 7/15/25

On July 11th , 2025, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Skylar Cannon, age 33, of Hoopeston. According to police reports, deputies were dispatched to Loda for a disturbance. Over the course of several associated calls for service, contact with Cannon was made, and a vehicle was located. Witnesses told deputies they saw Cannon driving the vehicle. A computer check revealed the vehicle to be stolen. Cannon was taken into custody and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Cannon was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later released with a notice to appear.

 

On July 1 1 th , 2025, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Joseph Burke, age 19, of Onarga. According to police reports, deputies were requested by paramedics in Onarga. On scene, deputies learned that Burke had attacked a paramedic while the paramedic was assisting someone else. Burke was taken into custody and charged with aggravated battery to a medical worker. Burke was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later released with a notice to appear.

 

On July I I th , 2025, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Tabitha Stevens, age 36, of Danville. According to police reports, Stevens was being held at the Champaign County Jail on the outstanding Iroquois County warrant charging her with retail theft. Stevens was taken into custody and transported to the Iroquois County Jail. She was later released with a notice to appear.

 

On July 12, 2025, Milford Police Department arrested Joshua Delong, age 49, of Danville.

According to police reports, Milford Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Delong for traffic violations. Milford Police conducted Standardized Field Sobriety Tests on Delong, who showed signs of impairment. Delong was taken into custody and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and no rear registration plate light. Delong was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later released with a notice to appear

Iroquois county police news 7/14/25

On July 7th, 2025, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested James R. Kornita, age 30, of Stockland. According to police reports, Kornita was wanted on an outstanding Iroquois County warrant charging him with parole violation. He was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later extradited back to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

 

On July 9th, 2025, Iroquois County Sheriff's Police arrested Mollie Clifton, age 35, of Woodland. According to police reports, Clifton was taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine less than 5 grams. She was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she was released with a notice to appear. Clifton was then arrested again by Sheriff's Police on July 11th after a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle she was driving for failing to signal. During the deputy's interaction with Clifton, she showed signs of impairment and was subsequently placed under arrest for driving under the influence of drugs. During the arrest, Clifton actively fought with the officers and was additionally charged with resisting arrest and aggravated battery to a peace officer. She was transported to the Iroquois County Jail and is being held pending a court hearing.

 

On July 9th, 2025, Iroquois County Sheriffs Police arrested Nina Gound, age 39, of Gilman. According to police reports, Gound was wanted on an outstanding Kankakee County warrant charging her with driving under the influence. Gound was transported to the Iroquois County Jail where she was later extradited to Kankakee County.

**UPDATE**FATAL CRASH-BROOK

Newton County Sheriff’s Office (7-5-25 1:10am/  update 7-7-25 3:14pm)

On July 4, 2025 7:55pm, Newton County 9-1-1 Communications received reports of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of SR 55 and CR 1000S.

The preliminary investigation by Deputy Duncan indicates a Chevrolet pickup (driven by a 65 year-old, Mark VanVleet) was traveling east on CR 1000S.  Due to a mechanical failure, the pickup was unable to yield to a northbound Dodge passenger vehicle (driven by Darwin Cavillo-Perez,  20 year-old Goodland, IN).

The Mark VanVleet was pronounced dead at the scene.  Darwin Cavillo-Perez was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.  Once released from the hospital, he was arrested for Operator never licensed and transported to the Newton County Jail.

Assisting agencies: Newton County 9-1-1 Communications, Brook Police, Kentland Police, Indiana State Police, Goodland Police, Brook Fire, Newton County EMS and the Newton County Coroner.

Iroquois county police news 7/7/25

 

On June 30th, 2025, Iroquois County Deputies arrested Brittney Schultz, 29, of Milford. According to police reports, Deputies knew Schultz to have an outstanding Iroquois County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of controlled substance. Deputies located Schultz in the Iroquois County Courthouse and took her into custody. Schultz was taken to the Iroquois County Jail where she was later released on a notice to appear.         

On June 30th , 2025, Iroquois County Deputies arrested Travis Walker, 39, of Wellington. According to police reports, Deputies were called to the Post Office in Wellington where employees stated Walker was causing a disturbance, refusing to leave, and threatening the employees. Walker was placed into handcuffs and charged with disorderly conduct. Walker was taken to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later released on a notice to appear.

On July 2nd , 2025, Iroquois County Deputies arrested Gannyn Waltz, 20, of Watseka. This arrest stems from an investigation which Deputies were called to the area of 2500 E. and 2500 N. for the report of a sexual assault. Waltz was identified as the suspect and later arrested and charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Waltz was taken to the Iroquois County Jail where he was later released on a notice to appear.

On July 3 rd, 2025, Iroquois County Deputies arrested Bretton Edwards, 35, of Watseka. According to police reports, a female victim met with Deputies to report multiple instances of being abused. Deputies met with the complainant who identified Edwards as the suspect. Deputies, with the assistance of the Watseka Police Department, located Edwards in the 300 block of west Walnut St. in Watseka. Edwards was taken to the Iroquois County Jail and charged with aggravated domestic battery. Edwards remains in the Iroquois County Jail awaiting his next court appearance.

On July 3 rd, 2025, the Clifton Police Department arrested Refugio Vela-Mones, 46, of Kankakee

According to police reports, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle being driven by VelaMones. A computer check revealed Vela-Mones had an active 2015 warrant from Kankakee County for failure to appear on an original charge of driving while license revoked. The computer check also revealed that Vela-Mones had a revoked Illinois license. Vela-Mones was taken to the Iroquois County Jail and was charged with driving while license revoked. VelaMones later posted the required bond and was released on two notice to appears.

FATAL CRASH-BROOK INDIANA

On July 4, 2025 7:55pm, Newton County 9-1-1 Communications received reports of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of SR 55 and CR 1000S.

 

The preliminary investigation by Deputy Duncan indicates a Chevrolet pickup (driven by a 65 year-old, Goodland, IN man) was traveling east on CR 1000S.  The pickup failed to yield to a northbound Dodge passenger vehicle (driven by a 20 year-old Goodland, IN man).

 

The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the passenger car was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.  Once released from the hospital, he was arrested for Operator never licensed and transported to the Newton County Jail.

 

Names are being withheld at this time pending family notification.

 

Assisting agencies: Newton County 9-1-1 Communications, Brook Police, Kentland Police, Indiana State Police, Goodland Police, Brook Fire, Newton County EMS and the Newton County Coroner.

Sheldon man arrested for over 1K doses of LSD, 4 other drug possessions in Livingston Co.

 A Sheldon man was arrested in Chatsworth after deputies seized over 1,200 doses of acid and nearly 4,000 grams of THC concentrate among other things following an ongoing investigation accroding to the Ford County Chronicle  that at approximately 9:15 a.m. on July 2, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department Pro-Active unit and the Iroquois County Detective Section completed an ongoing narcotics investigation. David R. Fredericks of Sheldon was taken into custody in the 300 block of E Locust St. in Chatsworth.

 

A search warrant was conducted on a residence in Chatsworth and Sheldon. The following items are some of what was recovered during the investigation:

  • 1,209 doses of LSD (Acid)
  • 298g of Psilocybin Mushrooms
  • 3,866g of THC concentrate
  • 184g of Cannabis Flower
  • Multiple prescription pills
  • Over $3,000 seized
  • Manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance x3 (Class X)
  • Posession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance (Class X)
  • Further charges pending investigation

Agencies that assisted in this investigation and arrest include Livingston County K9, Iroquois County Patrol, Livingston and Iroquois County States Attorney’s Office and VCOM.
